One of my favorite meditations to lead on a group hike is a loving kindness meditation also known as “Metta”
Here is a very basic way to do one,but you can find more detailed scripts just from googling “Loving Kindness Meditation”.
You start like any meditation would by sitting comfortably, close your eyes, feet or booty pressed firmly into the earth and breathe.
Picture yourself happy, healthy and surrounded by beautiful white light.
Repeat the following phrase “ May you be well, May you be happy, May you be loved and May you be at peace.”
Then you picture someone you love and do the same exact thing.
Then you picture someone you find challenging/difficult/ estranged from etc and repeat again.
And lastly you picture the world/ universe and again repeat the same thing.
It is such a sweet, loving meditation and helps shift your energy very quickly to that of compassion and kindness.
Everyone always agrees that it is a very peaceful, calming and relaxing meditation and they are happy to have participated in it.
I encourage you to try it because as we all know, the world could definitely use more of us sending out loving kindness vibes these days
