Alright Sparkle Squad….. Picture this….Your girl, walking into Life Coach School….channeling my inner Elle Woods… “What, like it’s hard?”
But in all seriousness, about 4 years ago I quickly discovered how different my world was then about 95% of the room when I stepped into my new adventure.
Out of 14 people, about 11 were planning on doing internal and external corporate coaching. A good amount of them were CEOs of huge businesses, and had very impressive backgrounds. People had written books, developed award winning apps, spoken at huge lectures, and I’m over here like Heyyyy my name is Jaclyn, my favorite color is pink glitter and what are you grateful for today?
I was intimidated to say the least. I spent the first morning scared as hell, but I realized really fast that even though we were all SO different we all had so much in common, too!
At first I was scared to even write on the white board in front of everyone without spell check, but everyone was like “Who gives a crap! Your ideas are creative!”
It’s really interesting what you learn about yourself when you break out of your comfort zone.
I made sure to stay true to who I was all week and be authentic. I owned the fact thatI’m a girly girl, but I have a dream and a purpose.I know I love to help people and I’m good at it! I bring something different to the table and when I leave the table it’s covered in glitter!
I learned what a SME and a SIG is (hello, I do hair people- I had no idea) and they learned which makeup palettes would be an amazing Christmas present for their wives, how to meal prep and pack healthy lunches, and why journaling can be super healing.
People I knew nothing about on Monday, became great friends by Saturday. By the end of the week I had practiced coaching all of them, and I was getting amazing feedback from a team of people I truly respect. I learned SO much from all my new friends and I think they all left with a new appreciation for pink and a little sparkle in their soul.
I could have let myself check out on day one when I was scared, but instead I made a choice to embrace my fear and allow this situation to let me grow.
Chase your dreams people… Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t, and when I say “anybody” that includes YOURSELF!
